You don't need an account to start. Open Plan a trip, and Wanderply only asks for an email at the very end, when you press the button that builds the plan. That way you see your own trip taking shape before you sign up for anything.
There are four screens. Here's what each one wants and which answers actually change the plan.
Step 1: Where are you going?
Start with the destination: a city, a national park or a region ("Moab", "Grand Canyon", "Tokyo"). Then add:
- Home base: where the trip starts. If you're driving, this is what lets Wanderply plan the route and the famous stops along the way, not just the place you end up.
- Getting there: your own car, a rental, flying, or a mix.
- Dates: when you leave home and when you want to be back. A Quick pick sets common trip lengths in one tap.
- Travelers: the plus and minus buttons.
Two optional fields are worth the extra minute:
- Must include. Add the things you'll be upset to miss, with a duration if it matters: "Arches — sunrise", "Disneyland — 2 days". The plan is built around every one of them.
- Trip style. Pace (relaxed, balanced or packed) decides how many stops land in a day. Budget changes the kind of places suggested. The notes box takes anything you'd tell a friend: dietary needs, accessibility, "no hikes over 3 miles", "the kids need a pool."
As you type, the summary card on the right fills in, so you can check it reads the way you meant. You can leave the title blank and Wanderply will name the trip for you.
Day trip instead? The switch at the top swaps to a one-day plan that starts and ends at home.
Step 2: Who's going?
Add each traveler, with an age and a few interests. A ten-year-old who loves rocks and a grandparent who can't do stairs produce different days, and this is where the plan learns that. If you've traveled with someone before, they're offered again with one tap.
Step 3: Pick the must-sees
Wanderply researches your destination and shows its highlights as cards, with a map whose numbered pins match them. Tap a card for details (why people love it, the best time to go, tips), and tap Add to my plan for the ones you want.
A few things to know:
- Anything from your step 1 must-include list that matches a card starts already selected. Favorites that didn't match a card are listed under Already in your plan, so nothing gets dropped.
- The vibe filters narrow the cards instantly.
- Highlights are optional. Skip them and the plan is still built around your dates, pace and must-includes.
The cards take about a minute to appear the first time a destination is researched.
Step 4: Review & create
Check the summary (dates, travelers, must-includes, highlights) and press Create my trip. If you haven't signed up yet, this is where you do it; your answers are kept and you land straight back on this screen.
Then Wanderply drafts the plan. That takes about two minutes, and you don't have to wait on the page: it emails you when the plan is ready. While you wait, the page lets you hear what a narrated stop sounds like or play a round of trivia.
What you get
The trip page puts it all in one place:
- A day-by-day plan. Real stops with times, how long each one takes, and drive legs between them. Every stop is placed on a real map location, because AI-written map pins are often wrong.
- The big picture. The whole trip on one map, with what to see, where to eat and where to sleep each night.
- Narration for every stop. A short spoken story about each place, written a minute or so after the plan appears. Tap Hear your trip narrated to listen.
- A packing checklist that everyone on the trip can tick off.
- Weather and a cost estimate for your dates, clearly labeled as estimates.
Make it yours
The first draft is a starting point.
- Edit anything. Move a stop to another day, change a time, delete what doesn't fit.
- Ask for changes in plain words. "Make day two more relaxed" or "swap the museum for something outdoors." The concierge suggests the edits, and nothing changes until you tap to approve.
- Bring everyone in. The Share button gives you a join link for the group chat, or invites people by email. Editors can change the plan; everyone sees the same live version.
- Book the pieces. Hotels for each night, rental cars and activities have search links on the trip page.
The morning you leave
Tap Start trip to run through a short checklist before you go. Then open Today (it's labeled Day by day before the trip begins): today's stops in order, one-tap directions to the next one, and the narration ready to play. While you still have Wi-Fi, tap to save this day's map for offline use. It's a few MB, and then the map and your stops work with no signal.
When the trip is over, Wanderply can turn it into a story with your photos and notes. That's the next guide.
